I Love My Park Day Events Celebrate Community and Conservation
This weekend’s I Love My Park Day, is a statewide event held each year on the first Saturday of May to celebrate and enhance New York’s parks, historic sites, greenway trails and other public lands. Volunteers of all ages can participate in various outdoor stewardship activities to help prepare our green spaces for the busy recreation season.
150 I Love My Park Day events are scheduled on May 4, 2024 across the state, with anticipated participation from 6,000+ volunteers. This is a fantastic opportunity for community members to come together, enjoy the outdoors, and contribute towards the preservation of our beautiful parks and historic sites–especially .
I Love My Park Day is an annual event coordinated by Park & Trails New York in partnership with the New York State Office of Park, Recreation and Historic Preservation and the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.
Castiglione Memorial Park (Fulton County)
May 4, 2024 beginning at 10 a.m.
Location: 47 N Main St, Gloversville 12078
Using New York State’s initiative to clean state parks and historical venues, the Gloversville Downtown Development Specialist (GDDS) will be cleaning up Gloversville’s Castiglione Memorial Park on North Main Street on I Love My Park Day, May 4th at 10 a.m.
Mine Kill State Park (Schoharie County)
May 4, 2024 from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Location: 161 Minekill Road, North Blenheim, NY 12131. Meet at the Pavillion.
Project Description: Mulching and planting the Pollinator Garden, planting flowers in pots and garden beds, cleaning up the trails, and painting guard rails and other park amenities.

Forbidden Music Regained
Treat yourself on May 4th at 7 pm (doors open at 6:30 pm) for a one-of-a-kind free concert at the Arkell Museum
Featuring Musicians of Ma’alwyck, Forbidden Music Regained is a concert featuring works by Jewish composers in the Netherlands who faced persecution during the Second World War.
Musicians of Ma’alwyck director and violinist Ann-Marie Barker Schwartz will be joined by Max Caplan, piano, and visiting soprano Elizaveta Agrafenina will travel from Europe to lend her rich voice to this concert.

Keanen Stark and Orion Kris at Dorn Space
Adirondack duo, Keanen Stark and Orion Kribs have brought their blend of modern yet classically old-timey sounds to many appreciative audiences in the Northeast and beyond. Keanen Stark (guitar, banjo and harmonica), is a folk singer in the truest sense of the word, with a classic old-time style reminiscent of the great Woody Guthrie. Orion Kribs is a world class mandolin player capable of breakneck speed and nuanced solo work. Each sharing lead vocals, Stark and Kribs swap old-timey folk, blues, bluegrass, and classic Americana tunes, and dabble at entertaining endless other influences and flights of fancy. The Insolent Willies
Come out and support one of your favorite local 518 Bands – The Insolent Willies, Friday, May 3rd at 7:00pm. The Johnstown-based group is a roots-rock band known for their hip-shaking mix of quirky, clever original music and unpredictable covers. They’ll be bringing their full band!
The Glove Theatre is looking forward to hearing Insolent Willies favorites and songs from the new album when they join us this Friday evening!

Meet the Artists Reception
Join the Micropolis Cooperative as they welcome watercolor painter Lynn Trudeau as their guest artist from 4:00pm until 6:00pm at the gallery located at 30 N. Main Street Gloversville, NY. Native ADK Turtles Presentation
Get a glimpse into the fascinating lives of freshwater turtles and their unique history and anatomy. Meet ambassador turtles from the Adirondacks and beyond and find out why turtles are disappearing and what you can do to make sure we have turtles to love for generations to come. This program will educate and entertain people of all ages!
Debbie Philp is a NYS licensed wildlife rehabilitator and the founder of Dancing Turtle Rescue, a small nonprofit dedicated to saving native freshwater turtles and their wetland habitats. Debbie brings her knowledge and passion to her public education programs. This is a FREE program is part of The Glove Theatre’s new “Education Series”.
