The funding consists of a generous $41,500 grant awarded by the Edwin J. Wadas Foundation, Inc., a testament to their commitment to supporting youth athletics in the region. Next is honored to have facilitated this grant for the Village of Ilion. Mayor John Stephens expressed his gratitude stating, “The Village of Ilion is extremely excited and appreciative of the award received from the Wadas Foundation to be utilized for upgrades and improvements to the Whalen Softball Field Complex. These fields are some of the best in the area but are in drastic need of maintenance that would not have been possible without this award. On behalf of the entire Village of Ilion Board of Trustees and athletes that utilize this complex, we thank you.”

Additionally, Next has secured a $100,000 donation from EDF Renewables, with the first $25,000 installment already received. This sustained funding will support continuous maintenance and improvements to the field over the next three years. EDF Renewables, a leading independent power producer and service provider, is committed to delivering renewable energy solutions like wind, solar, and electric vehicle charging in an economical, environmentally responsible manner.
