About Peaceful Valley Maple Farms

Steve Savage has been immersed in maple grove life since he was 15 years old. He started collecting sap in buckets on his grandfather, Gordon LaGrange’s farm. Gordon taught him the process of making maple syrup-from tapping the correct trees, to using wood for the boiling process. In 1986, Peaceful Valley Maple Farms was established. A new sap house was built in 2005 and in 2007, a restaurant was added to the sap house and store through the vision of Steve’s mother, Barbara Kirk. Steve continues the family tradition by sharing his love of sugaring with his son Stephen, who has taken on most of the boiling process for the past two years. Together, the Savage family has grown that passion into a successful family business.

Maple Weekend is a chance for the public to come to the farm to learn about New York’s maple sugarmaking processes and traditions and to provide a chance to taste pure maple syrup in its many forms – right from the source. This event is organized and sponsored by the New York State Maple Producers’ Association. We are proudly funded by both our members and the NYS Department of Agriculture and Markets.

NYS Maple Association

The New York State Maple Producers Association (NYSMPA) is a not-for-profit organization composed of the folks who produce maple syrup and related maple products throughout New York State. We are a diverse group of small business people who understand what it means to work hard in the forests, who take pride to practice sustainable wood lot management, so that healthy maple trees will yield their sweet sap year after year.
