Tailored Computer Care Celebrates Grand Re-Opening in Ilion’s Central Plaza

ILION, N.Y. – Tailored Computer Care, a technology repair business, will celebrate its Grand Re-Opening with a ribbon cutting on Friday, October 2 at 4:00 p.m. at its new permanent home, 40 Central Plaza, Suite 4, in Ilion. The community is invited to tour the new space, meet the team, and help celebrate. The event will feature food trucks, local restaurants, raffles, and giveaways.

Tailored Computer Care founded in 2010

Founded in 2010 by U.S. Army veteran Michael Taylor, Tailored Computer Care began in Taylor’s home while he was actively serving in the military and pursuing his passion for information technology. The business later opened its first brick-and-mortar location in Dolgeville before its continued growth brought it to Ilion. Since 2024, Tailored Computer Care has relocated three times to accommodate increasing demand, additional inventory, and a growing team of technicians.

“I started this business at home with a simple goal. I wanted to give people honest, affordable tech help from someone who actually knows their name,” said Taylor. “Because of our customers, we have expanded our space, and Central Plaza is where we’re putting down roots. The residents and neighboring small businesses and organizations have welcomed us with open arms, and we’re proud to be part of what’s happening here.”

Tailored Computer Care provides diagnostic troubleshooting, repair and maintenance for computers, laptops, smartphones and tablets, as well as custom PC builds, data recovery services, small electronics repair, 3D printing, and a growing cards and collectibles section. The shop offers customers a local alternative to large retail chains. Taylor is joined by Social Media Director Scott Devereese and Lead Technician Donald Taylor, who also oversees the company’s 3D printing services and cards and collectibles section.

Grand Re-Opening at Central Plaza

The Grand Re-Opening marks another step forward for Central Plaza, which is seeing renewed activity as businesses and organizations invest in spaces that were once underutilized.

“Central Plaza is growing again, and Tailored Computer Care is exactly the kind of locally rooted business we want investing in our community,” said Michele Hummel, Executive Director of NEXT, a nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening Herkimer County and the Mohawk Valley. “For those of us who remember the plaza when it was bustling, seeing activity return is particularly meaningful. Every occupied storefront brings people back and moves the revitalization of Ilion forward.”
