This mobile photographer really captures the beauty of the Mohawk Valley

At Mohawk Valley Today, we love to take photos of our region. One local photographer, Evey, has been helping us do just that.

At just twelve years old, Evey has been honing her mobile photography skills for more than a year now.

”The past year, I’ve been learning more about mobile photography. My mom is a professional photographer and has been helping me with lighting and composition.”

Here in the Mohawk Valley, Evey enjoys taking photos of towns and villages and what makes each location unique.

“I’ve been to a few different villages and really like the old buildings that have something different about them. I took a photo of a building in Fort Plain with a clock tower that was pretty awesome.”

Evey takes photos with her iPhone 15 Plus. She likes how sharp the photos come out and prefers still photography to taking videos. “I enjoy taking photos more than video because it’s easier to control the exposure.”

While Evey loves taking photos outdoors, her photos inside have a common theme. “My favorite subject to photograph is my cat, Maple. She is the sweetest kitten ever and she’s so much fun to hang out with.”

Recently, Evey took photos in Fort Plain along Canal and Main Streets. Just last week, Evey could be seen taking photos in Little Falls at Canal Place and on Moss Island. “I love walking around outside with my grandmother and finding something cool to photograph–it just makes me happy.”

Evey believes that photography will always be a part of her life.

“Photography is awesome. It’s a way for me to capture my favorite memories and share them with others.”

Many thanks to Evey for sharing her photos with us. If you take photos of your community, let us know, and we’ll be happy to include your photos on Mohawk Valley Today.
