Wilbur H. Lynch Literacy Academy Pool Re-Open’s for Family Swim Night
Amsterdam NY: The City of Amsterdam, Greater Amsterdam School District and Montgomery County Public Health Department is excited to announce that Wilbur H. Lynch Literacy Academy pool located at 55 Brandt Pl is open every Thursday for Family Swim Night.
Mayor Michael Cinquanti stated, “Our City, County and School District continue to work together to offer residents opportunities none of us could offer on our own. We are thrilled to be able to help extend the benefits of the Middle School pool to our wider community and grateful to be working with two great partners to make that possible.
“Reopening the Lynch Literacy Academy pool after three years has filled me with excitement and gratitude.” Superintendent Richard Ruberti stated. He went onto saying “The recent family swim night was a tremendous success, with the turnout exceeding expectations. We’re now exploring ways to adjust times to align with this exceptional response. I appreciate the community’s support and eagerly anticipate more shared moments of joy around the pool.”
Free Swim Night thanks to Montgomery County Public Health Departments
All activities are free thanks to funds from the Montgomery County Public Health Departments. Families can enjoy Family Swim from 5-6pm, Aqua Aerobics from 6-7pm and Lap Swimming from 7-8pm. All swimmers are required to wear a bathing suit, athletic shorts will not be allowed.
Montgomery County Public Health Director, Sara Boerenko stated, “Winter months can be isolating for families. This open pool time at Lynch provides a safe, substance free, healthy activity for our community. Swimming does not have to just be a warm weather activity. Thanks to our partnership with Greater Amsterdam School District and the City of Amsterdam Recreation Department, we can bring water fun and exercise to resident to enjoy this winter.”
