Formerly the Fort Plain Activities Council, Fort Plain CORE (Community Organization for Recreation and Enrichment) shared the idea for Heritage Days developed into three-day event at Hazlett Park in downtown over the past year. Val Lawson said,

“By expanding the community event to three days, we felt it would allow more time for the community to come together, participate and enjoy Heritage Days events with friends and neighbors.”

Val also emphasized that she hopes, “Everyone enjoys the event and has a great time. We hope that everyone sees the hard work that went into Heritage Days and appreciates all that the volunteers have done to make the event successful.” Val also wanted to make sure everyone knew that they were invited to get involved in Fort Plain CORE. They are looking forward with plans for a community center and so much more that will benefit the entire Fort Plain community.

“At Fort Plain Core, we focus on good ideas and what will work for the community. We’re always looking for people to get involved. Anyone is welcome!”
