Mark Your Calendars for Upcoming Gloversville Events

Flag Day, Juneteenth, NYS Path Through History Events, New Business Openings and More!

GLOVERSVILLE, NY – Jennifer Donovan, the Gloversville Downtown Development Specialist (GDDS) at Fulton County Center for Regional Growth (CRG) is pleased to announce upcoming Gloversville events, and June continues to be a busy month for Gloversville. Below is just a small sampling of what is going on so mark your calendars and join us in the activities!

June 14th through the 16th

Wednesday, June 14, is Flag Day and the Gloversville Senior Center will be hosting a free lunch for veterans, along with a short program about Flag Day. Be sure to sign up for the event BEFORE Tuesday by calling the center at (518) 725-0923.

Food Truck Fridays returns this Friday, June 16, at Castiglione Park, 47 N. Main St., from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. This week’s food vendors include A&S Spice on Wheels, Buena Comida, Jammin Juice Barn, Park Side Hot Dogs and Teddy’s Gyros. Michelle King will perform during the lunch hour and the Fulton County Regional SPCA, Gloversville Public Library, and Glove City Coalition will be on hand, along with one of the sponsors Cricket Wireless.

Also on Friday, June 16, the Fulton Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a ribbon cutting ceremony at 10:30 a.m. for the new restaurant, Mountain Mama’s Cantina and Eatery, located just outside the Downtown Corridor at 391 S. Main St.

Be sure to stop by Fulton Street Liquor located at 86 E. Futon St. on Friday, June 16, as they celebrate the grand opening of their Bourbon Vault & Wine Cellar.

Weekend of June 17-18

Saturday and Sunday, June 17 and 18, is New York State’s Path Through History Weekend and Gloversville is participating with a Community Walk. Tours are at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. on both days and participants will view historic buildings and learn about the projects through the Downtown Revitalization Initiative. For more information and to RSVP for the free tour, call (518) 725-7700 ext. 4. Tours start at the Gloversville Water Department parking lot at 67 S. Main St.

Also on Saturday, June 17, at 7 p.m. the Glove Theatre will be hosting a free Juneteenth Celebration honoring the love, life, and legacy of Gloversville’s black community, featuring performances and community member memorials.

Monday, June 19, from 2 to 4 p.m. there will be a Juneteenth Educational Celebration by I Can Breathe And I will Speak in collaboration with the Gloversville Public Library and Glove Theatre. Educational readings and food will be available at Castiglione Park, followed by the viewing of the movie “Remember the Titans” at the Glove Theatre. Lastly, looking ahead on the calendar, save the date for next week as a new business ribbon cutting ceremony will be held for Kay’s Beautique, owned by Kayla Dwight, on Saturday, June 24, at 10 a.m. at the store’s new location at 84 N. Main St. The hours for the store are Mondays through Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. The business can be found online at Instagram page www.instagram.com/kays.beautique.518.
