Herkimer County IDA awarded $300,000 in grant funding for small businesses
Herkimer County, New York – Herkimer County, in collaboration with the Herkimer County Industrial Development Agency (HCIDA), was awarded $300,000 in grant funding through New York State Office of Homes and Community Renewal’s for the Community Development Block Grant Economic Development program. This will provide our county with the critical resources for collaborative local economic development efforts, with the intention to create jobs, expand economic opportunities and improve the quality of life for working families in Herkimer County.
Herkimer County Micro Enterprise Grant Program
The objective of the Herkimer County Micro Enterprise Grant Program is to fill a void in helping small existing companies or start-up companies provide new job opportunities. Small businesses with 5 or less employees of whom one is the owner of the business will be eligible to receive grants up to $35,000.
Grants are available for the finances of capital assets (machinery, furniture, and equipment).
Applicants will be required to complete a small business training program offered by the Mohawk Valley Small Business Development Center, submit a business plan, and contribute 10% owner cash equity.
It is the program’s intent to assist with technical assistance targeted to small start-up enterprises where such assistance is deemed applicable, and ultimately grant for businesses which fit the established criteria for assistance for those ventures.
