Ilion Little Theatre will hold open auditions for, Â Prescription: Murder, by William Link and Richard L. Levinson
Open audition dates are Thursday, February 6th at 6:00 p.m. and Friday, February 7th at 6:00 p.m.
Providing the inspiration for the TV series Columbo, the theatrical predecessor Prescription: Murder tells the story of a brilliant psychiatrist and his mistress who hatch a plot to murder his neurotic, possessive wife. The execution of their plan and the creation of their perfect alibi depends on a bizarre impersonation. Lt. Columbo must engage the psychiatrist in a duel of wits until the doctor succeeds in having Columbo removed from the case. However, it is the mistress who proves to be the weak link that leads to a trap and a surprising climax!
There will be four male and three female characters cast. (Note: Ages listed are a guide. Casting decisions are the discretion of the directing team.)
- Roy Flemming – Polished urbane New York City psychiatrist in his forties. (Note: This role requires stage intimacy (kissing) with Susan.)
- Claire Flemming – Brittle, sardonic and neurotic wife of Dr. Flemming.
- Susan Hudson – Young, attractive and somewhat sensual. She is Dr. Flemming’s young mistress.
- Lieutenant Columbo – Rumpled cigar-smoking police official of indeterminate age.
- Dave Gordon – Smooth boyish lawyer with an eye on a political future.
- Miss Petrie – Pleasant efficient secretary/receptionist for Dr. Flemming.
- Delivery Boy – Early twenties or late teens, delivers for Madison Cleaners.
Auditions will consist of readings from the script.
Directed by Leanne Handzel. Show dates are March 28, 29, 30, April 4, 5, 6.
