It’s that time of year once again when communities across the Mohawk Valley come together and share their holiday spirit with special events, parades, and visits from Santa Claus! So there is lots to see and enjoy this weekend in communities big and small! Here are just a few for the weekend of December 6 – December 8! Thank you Amsterdam, Canajoharie, Cherry Valley, Gloversville, Johnstown, Mayfield, St Johnsville, and others, for sending their holiday events for us to share! You can still get fresh local produce at area farmers’ markets and farm stores across the Mohawk Valley!
The Magic of Elves
The Century Club of Amsterdam, NY present: ”“The Magic Elves” 2024 Festival of Trees on December 6th, 7th and 8th. There will be Group Lunches open to the public from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. General Admission is $5 per person, lunch is an extra cost. More fun throughout the day!
Cherry Valley Tree Lighting
The Cherry Valley Tree Lighting Begins at 6:OO p.m. on Friday December 6, 2024 at 2 Main Street, Cherry Valley, NY. The lighted tractor parade will be bigger and better than ever, and will be joined by Santa, the Happy Haggs, and a fire dancer. The parade and tree lighting is part of the Cherry Valley Holiday Weekend.
Johnstown Holiday Parade
The Johnstown Holiday Parade begins at 6:00 p.m. on Friday December 6, 2024 in downtown Johnstown NY. The annual Holiday Parade & Tree Lighting features a parade down Main Street ending with the Annual Tree Lighting and visits with Santa in the park.
Experience Holiday Magic at Elves Day Out
Village of Canajoharie welcomes families for a Full Day of Festivities during Elves Day Out on Saturday, December 7, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. This festive event is made possible through a continued partnership between Montgomery County Tourism and the Canajoharie-Palatine Bridge Chamber of Commerce. Visitors can enjoy a variety of holiday-themed activities, including shopping at local businesses and vendors, story time with Mrs. Claus, a tree lighting ceremony, parade of lights and, of course, a chance for children to meet Santa Claus.
33rd Annual Christmas Open House at The Rice Homestead
The Annual Christmas Open house at the Rice Homestead takes place on Saturday, December 7, 2024 from 12:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. The 1810 historic home will be adorned with period holiday decorations with fireplaces ablaze. Santa will visit and be available for photos, homemade cookies and hot mulled cider. For more information, call 518-332-0538.
Christmas in St Johnsville
Christmas in St Johnsville Begins at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at 55 West Main Street, in St Johnsville, NY. This year, kids can join Mrs. Claus and her helpers to decorate sugar cookies from 3pm-5pm. Watch the parade of Lights at 5pm from any spot on Main Street followed by the annual Tree Lighting by the big guy himself!All events will happen in/near the Monte’s parking lot area at 55 W. Gloversville Christmas Parade
The Gloversville Christmas Parade begins at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday December 7, 2024 on Main Street, Gloversville, NY. You can join in the fun at the Parade followed immediately by the Tree Lighting Ceremony. Santa will be officially arriving on the last unit in the parade. Palatines and Presents: A German Christmas
Herkimer Home invites you to join us for a celebration of the holidays at Palatines and Presents: A German Christmas! This year’s event will be held on Sunday, December 8th from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Standard site admission of $4 for adults and $3 for students/seniors; children 12 and under are free.
