Mohawk Valley Featured Weekend Events in Upstate NY: March 21-23

A certain sign that comes with the arrival of Spring is Maple Weekend in the Mohawk Valley! Maple producers across all six counties of the Mohawk Valley are ready to welcome you to their sugar house for some ‘sweet’ fun for the whole family! Many thanks to Gloversville, Old Forge, Oriskany, Cooperstown and more for sharing events with us! Remember to stock up on fresh produce at the Veggie Van Indoor Market, The Oneida Public Market, the Oneonta Winter Farmers’ Market, and Cooperstown Farmers’ Market. Don’t forget to get local produce for your favorite recipes at area farm stores!

Master Gardeners host Plant Propagation Workshop

Cornell Cooperative Extension Oneida County’s Master Gardener Volunteers will host a hands-on Plant Propagation Workshop featuring special guest Andrew Sblendorio of Andrew’s Nursery. The workshop will take place on Friday, March 21, from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at the CCE Oneida Office in Oriskany. Participants will learn about different methods of growing plants, ways to manipulate your environment to help plants thrive, cover basic tools of propagation, and more, with plenty of time for questions and answers.

Maple Weekend in the Mohawk Valley

This weekend is the first of two planned NYS Maple Weekends of 2025! Each year the NYS Maple Maple Producers Association hosts Maple Weekend Open house events at maple producer locations across New York State. We are lucky to have over a dozen participating maple producers right here in the Mohawk Valley! Writer’s Workshop Series

The Old Forge Library will hold a “Write Your Own Way” Writer’s Workshop via Zoom on Sundays March 23- April 13 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Gabrielle Esposito will lead the 4-session workshop. Each class lasts 1.5 hours, and there is always ample time for participants to share their work and receive constructive feedback. Sugaring Off Sundays Return to Fenimore Farm in March

Sugaring Off Sundays Sundays with plenty of maple sugaring activities and pancake breakfasts begins at 8:30 a.m. on March 16, 2025, at Fenimore Farm and Country Village located at 5775 NY-80, Cooperstown. Breakfast begins at 8:30 a.m. with events and activities planned from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Pricing: Adults/Teens (ages 13+) $15 / $14 members, Kids (ages 6-12) $10 / $9 members, and Lil’ Ones (ages 5 and under) are FREE. Reservations are not required.

Get fresh vegetables, honey and more at the Veggie Van Indoor Market from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Friday at the ARC Mall in Central Plaza in Ilion, the Oneonta Winter Farmers Market from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Saturdays at Foothills located at 24 Market Street, the Oneida County Public Market from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at unio9n Station located at 321 Main Street, Utica, and at the Cooperstown Farmers’ Market on Saturday, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Don’t forget to have fun during the “Hardy Locavore” challenge to reward shoppers at its Winter Saturday Markets. By shopping 10 times at the farmers’ market between January 11 and April 26, people will receive a free cotton canvas box tote.
