Mohawk Valley Featured Weekend Events in Upstate NY: March 28-30

We’re heading into New York’s second and final Maple Weekend in the Mohawk Valley! Maple producers across all the Mohawk Valley are ready to welcome you to their sugar house for some ‘sweet’ fun for the whole family! Sugar houses across our region’s six counties have syrup and sweets to purchase with some locations offering demonstrations, samplings and activities. Many thanks to Ilion, Gloversville, Old Forge, Cooperstown and more for sharing events with us! Remember to stock up on fresh produce at the Oneonta Winter Farmers’ Market, and Cooperstown Farmers’ Market. Don’t forget to get local produce for your favorite recipes at area farm stores!

Ilion Little Theatre “Prescription: Murder”

The Ilion Little Theater hosts multiple performances this weekend of “Prescription: Murder” Tickets are on sale for performances this weekend at the Ilion Little Theatre. This original stage production provided the inspiration for the TV series Columbo. The theatrical predecessor Prescription: Murder tells the story of a brilliant psychiatrist and his mistress who hatch a plot to murder his neurotic, possessive wife. This weekend is the is the last of two planned NYS Maple Weekends of 2025! Each year the NYS Maple Maple Producers Association hosts Maple Weekend Open house events at maple producer locations across New York State. We are lucky to have over a dozen participating maple producers right here in the Mohawk Valley! Keep Mohawk valley Beautiful: Oneonta

Keep Mohawk Valley Beautiful, is a local affiliate of Keep America Beautiful and committee of Mohawk Valley Economic Development District, Inc., Organizers are hosting a clean-up event in Oneonta beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 29, 2025 at Mueller’s Plaza in Oneonta. Volunteers of all ages are encouraged to participate. In addition to picking up litter, Keep Mohawk Valley Beautiful will be handing out free supplies for residents to go on to do more cleanups throughout the spring in their local neighborhoods, parks and community spaces. Community members and volunteers were encouraged to join in and help keep Mohawk Valley beautiful!

Writer’s Workshop Series

The Old Forge Library will hold a “Write Your Own Way” Writer’s Workshop via Zoom on Sunday, March 29 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Gabrielle Esposito will lead the the 2 in the 4-session workshop series. Each class lasts 1.5 hours, and there is always ample time for participants to share their work and receive constructive feedback. Sugaring Off Sundays Return to Fenimore Farm in March

Sugaring Off Sundays Sundays  with plenty of maple sugaring activities and pancake breakfasts begins at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday at Fenimore Farm and Country Village located at 5775 NY-80, Cooperstown. Breakfast begins at 8:30 a.m. with events and activities planned from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Pricing:  Adults/Teens (ages 13+) $15 / $14 members, Kids (ages 6-12) $10 / $9 members, and Lil’ Ones (ages 5 and under) are FREE. Reservations are not required.

Farmers’ Markets

Get fresh vegetables, honey and more at the  Oneonta Winter Farmers Market from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Saturdays at Foothills located at 24 Market Street, and at the Cooperstown Farmers’ Market on Saturday, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Don’t forget to have fun during the “Hardy Locavore” challenge to reward shoppers at its Winter Saturday Markets. By shopping 10 times at the farmers’ market between January 11 and April 26, people will receive a free cotton canvas box tote.
