Mohawk Valley Featured Weekend Events in Upstate NY: May 2-4, 2025.

This weekend offers fantastic events throughout Upstate New York’s Mohawk Valley. Thanks to Montgomery County, Old Forge, Oneonta, Clinton, Cobleskill, Gloversville, and more, for sharing your events with us! Fresh produce can be found this week at the Oneonta Winter Farmers’ Market, and the Cooperstown Farmers’ Market. Don’t forget to get local produce for your favorite recipes at area farm stores!

Take a Bite of Montgomery

Take a Bite of Montgomery is Montgomery County NY’s version of Restaurant Week, and it continues through the weekend until May 4 at various locations across Montgomery County in Upstate NY. Whether you’re craving a juicy burger, a traditional lox bagel, classic chicken and biscuits or a sweet treat to end your day, Montgomery County’s restaurants have you covered.

Spring Story Time will be held for five consecutive Fridays from April 18 to May 16, 10:15–11 am, at the Old Forge Library, 220 Crosby Blvd.

Designed for children ages 3–6, Story Time is a fun, engaging experience led by a friendly and enthusiastic library staff. During these 45-minute sessions, children will enjoy a variety of activities, including storytelling, creative play, games, crafts, songs, and other interactive activities designed to inspire imagination and creative thinking. To register, please call 315-369-6008 or email oldforge@midyork.org. For families with toddlers, children ages 1 and 2 are welcome to attend with an adult accompanying them during the session.

Hartwick College 4th Annual Native Plant Sale

Hartwick College 4th Annual Native Plant Sale is Friday, May 2nd,  and Saturday, May 3, 2025. The native plant sale will be held at the Hartwick College greenhouse in the Johnstone Science Center located at 54 Otisco Ln, Hartwick College, Oneonta, NY. The sale is sponsored by the Native Plant Initiative at Hartwick College and will feature a variety of native perennials and ferns. Some are grown from ecotypic seeds from upstate New York and planted by Hartwick College students. Proceeds from this sale benefit Super Heroes Humane Society. Hours are 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday. Parking is available near the greenhouse. For additional information, contact Peter Fauth at fauthp@hartwick.edu.

Empire State Entrepreneur Expo

The Institute for Rural Vitality welcomes its partner growers, producers and small businesses to the third annual Empire State Entrepreneur Expo taking place on Friday, May 2, 2025  from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Prentice Hall, SUNY Cobleskill, 152 Albany Avenue, Cobleskill, NY. The public is invited to taste, try and buy food, beverage, and other products made by the small businesses and farms from the Mohawk Valley and beyond. The Expo will provide an opportunity for artisan, health, beauty and farm-to-table businesses to showcase their products to sponsors, buyers, and the community. Last year’s Expo featured over 100 value-added products, and 2025 is expected to be even bigger! Admission is free for attendees. Opening Reception for 2025 Special Exhibitions Saturday, May 3, 1-4 p.m. Join staff and curators for an opening and introduction to this year’s special exhibitions: “Once a Tree: Continuity, Creativity, and Connection” and “Separated but Unbroken: The Haudenosaunee Boarding School Experience.” Included in Museum admission.

Climate Smart Communities – Oneonta Environmental Fair

The City of Oneonta will be hosting the Climate Smart Communities – Oneonta Environmental Fair on May 3rd, inviting local residents to learn about sustainability initiatives and climate action. This free event will take place at SUNY Oneonta’s ExCL Center (4 Dietz Street, Oneonta) from 9:00am to 12:00pm and will showcase a variety of activities aimed at empowering the community to take action on climate change.

Songs Along the Mohawk Concert with Byron Nilsson & Malcolm Kogut

During the Songs Along the Mohawk Concert, Byron will take us back to the heyday of the Erie Canal through songs passengers, muleteers, and bargemen would have heard every day. Some of these songs are humorous, others a tad bawdy, you will hear familiar tunes and some that have been lost to time. This is a free event and great for older kids and adults.

Herkimer County Historical Society Murder Mystery Dinner

Join the Herkimer County Historical Society for an unforgettable evening of food, fun, and MURDER at the Herkimer Elks Lodge, 124 Mary Street, Herkimer. This interactive dinner theater experience will have guests solving a mystery while enjoying a night out like no other. Doors Open: 5:30 PM. Dinner Served: 6:00 PM.

Gloversville Events

Spring Cleaning at the Fulton County Historical Society on May 3 offers a great way to start your day. Stay as long as you like or join everyone on site for the entire time, your help is appreciated! There will be something for everyone, from outdoor work (trimming hedges, picking up litter, planting flowers) to indoor organizational and cleaning tasks. Everyone is welcome! The museum will provide water and some light refreshments for volunteers.

The Glove Theatre has multiple events this weekend for you to enjoy.On Saturday at 10:00 a.m. visit The Glove for Young Arts Summer Program Open House highlighting two FREE youth-focused arts programs designed for grade school, junior, and senior high school students. Interested students, parents, and community members are invited to meet the educator team and learn more about the programs. Later on Saturday at 7:00 p.m., immerse yourself in The BACK TO THE GARDEN 1969 – The Woodstock Experience recreating the classic sounds associated with Woodstock – with a musical tribute to the artists who made Woodstock great. On Sunday, The Glove Theatre Education Series will offer a FREE screening of Rise and Fall of the Borscht Belt at 2:00 p.m. Following the screening, Glove Theatre Board Member Aaron Enfield will explore the history of the Borscht Belt with Jay Blotcher, a board member of the newly opened Catskills Borscht Belt Museum in Ellenville, NY.

Farmers’ Markets

Get jams, honey and more at the Oneonta Winter Farmers Market from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Saturdays at Foothills located at 24 Market Street, and at the Cooperstown Farmers’ Market on Saturday, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. There is still time to have fun during the “Hardy Locavore” challenge to reward shoppers at its Winter Saturday Markets. By shopping 10 times at the farmers’ market between January 11 and April 26, people will receive a free cotton canvas box tote.
