We are so excited about this year’s Cheese Festival in Little Falls along with all of the fantastic featured events happening this weekend! Book Tasting: Indigenous Authors
Join the Canajoharie Library in the classroom on October 4, for an all day, drop in, book tasting. Enjoy a variety of carefully selected books by Indigenous Authors. Find your next favorite read! This is a free program for adults. For questions call the Canajoharie Library at 518-673-2314 ext. 106.
Two Roads Pastel Exhibit Opening Reception
Opening Reception for Two Roads an Exhibit of Pastel Paintings by Joyce Hanson and Becky Harblin, will on display at the Old Forge Library, 220 Crosby Blvd., from October 4th through November 8th. The exhibit’s opening reception will be held on Friday, October 4, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. The public is invited to attend and enjoy light refreshments, meet the artists and view their work.
A Midsummer Night’s Dream
The Glove Theatre and Trust Your Gut Productions bring you A Midsummer Night’s Dream, October 4th, 5th, and 6th. A new, semi-musical adaptation of William Shakespeare’s beloved comedy of feuding fairies, mistaken lovers, and a group of wacky mechanicals. Directed and adapted by Ashley Olmstead, A Midsummer Night’s Dream finds a new light under the southern moon, newly contextualized within the cryptic woods and mystic valleys of Southern Appalachia. This adaptation also features original music by Lillian Nevins, helping to bring this new setting for Shakespeare to life. Check event listing for showtimes and ticket info.

Little Falls Cheese Festival
The Little Falls Cheese Festival begins at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 5, on Main Street in Little Falls, NY. Join in celebrating the rich history of dairying in Central New York and support the local businesses that continue these traditions! The Little Falls Cheese Festival features over 120 different cheeses, plus locally made artisan foods and craft beverages. This will be a full day of fun, entertainment, and cheese the whole family will enjoy!
Crafts at the Zoo
The Fort Rickey Discovery Zoo is hosting Crafts at the Zoo starting at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 5, at the Fort Rickey Discovery Zoo, located at 5135 Rome-New London Road, Rome NY. Local craft vendors come together at the zoo to share their unique treasures with you! Spend the day browsing and shopping while visiting your favorite zoo animals! CPR with Nia Tormey
CPR with Nia Tormey will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 5, at the Old Forge Library located at 220 Crosby Road, Old Forge, NY. The Old Forge Library hosts CPR for all ages, AED & opioid education including Narcan training. Certified instructor, Nia Tormey, will be teaching at two separate training classes. The first class and certification will be held on Saturday, October 5th, 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.and the second will be Saturday November 16, 10:00 a.m until 2:00 p.m.
Fenimore Art Museum – Tour & Storytime for Families
Fenimore Art Museum offers the program “Tour & Storytime for Families” on Saturday mornings at 11:00 a.m. throughout the month of October. Museum docents will read aloud one of the books featured in the exhibition Young at Art: A Selection of Caldecott Book Illustrations and then offer a kid-friendly mini-tour. Attendees will then select their favorite illustration in the exhibition and create an artistic bookmark to honor the book from which it came. The program runs on Saturdays, October 5, 12, 19, 26, at 11:00 a.m. and is included with museum admission. Ages 19 and under are free. More information at FenimoreArt.org.
Guided Tours and Paranormal Talks
Guided Tours and Paranormal Talks take place beginning at 11:00 a.m on Saturday, October 5, at No. 3 Rutger Park in Utica, NY. Join in this fun and informative guided tour of the haunted mansion, led by our experienced guides. Plus, don’t miss the chance to hear paranormal talks by the renowned Dennis Webster! Celebrate 250 Years of History
Three Local Chapters of The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution to Host a “Celebrate 250 Years of American History” Event. The Amsterdam, Johnstown, and Fort Plain Chapters of the Daughters of the American Revolution will host a “Celebrate 250 Years of American History” event on Saturday, October 5, from noon to 3:00 p.m. The event seeks to engage the public as well as students in celebrating our nation’s upcoming 250th birthday and our Patriots who fought for and achieved American independence. Each of the three Chapters will be at a different location within their county which will include presentations and displays. Please plan to visit all three locations including the Amsterdam Chapter will be at Montgomery County Department of History & Archives located in the Old Courthouse in Fonda, the Fort Plain Chapter will be at their Chapter House located at 105 Mohawk St. in Fort Plain, the Johnstown Chapter will be at Fulton County Museum located at 237 Kingsboro Ave. in Gloversville.
Mayfield Cruise-In
The Mayfield Historical Society will hold its annual Fall Harvest Cruise-In on Saturday, October 5th, from 12:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on the grounds of The Rice Homestead, 328 Riceville Road in Mayfield. All antique, hot rod, and vintage vehicles are welcome and will receive a free hot dog and drink. Registration is at the gate; pre-registration may be made by calling president Bob Suits at 518-857-2820. Admission is free to all Cruise-In participants and the general public.
The Night Watch
The Night Watch: From Canvas to Clothing, presented by noted textile historian and weaver Rabbit Goody, October 5, at 3:00 p.m. in the Great Hall for the Arkell Museum’s third annual Elizabeth Hearn Gleich lecture. Rabbit Goody will discuss the Arkell Museum’s scale copy of The Night Watch, and will talk about the actual canvases used by Rembrandt van Rijn for his work and the gorgeous textiles depicted in The Night Watch. Lecture: 3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. All are welcome to this free event.
Belle-Skinner at Dorn Space
Acclaimed singer-songwriter, Belle-Skinner returns to Gloversville for an intimate listening-room concert performance at 7:00 p.m. at Dorn Space located at 99 N. Main Street, Gloversville, NY. Her songs have been featured on several Spotify editorial playlists and have garnered over a million streams worldwide. Admission is $10 (cash/door only). Doors open at 6:15 pm.

Worcester Walking Tour
The Worcester Walking Tour to focus on life in 1880s takes place at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 6, beginning at 4 Decatur Street, Worcester, NY. The tour will be led by Dr. Cindy Falk, Assistant Dean of Graduate Studies at SUNY Oneonta and Professor of Material Culture at the University’s Cooperstown Graduate Program.
Dungeons and Dragons at Amsterdam Free Library
The Amsterdam Free Library hosts Dungeons and Dragons sessions for kids aged 7-12 and for Dungeons and Dragons sessions for kids aged 13+. Sessions begin at 10:30 a.m for 7-12 year olds and at 12:30 p.m until 2:30pm for aged 13 and up. This is a great opportunity for kids to discover how to play the dungeons and Dragons. This is a great opportunity for kids to learn the game Dungeons and Dragons from folks who know. No experience is necessary.
