Registration Open for Central NY Crop and Dairy Days 2025

The Central NY Dairy, Livestock, and Field Crops (CNYDLFC) Team of Cornell Cooperative Extension (CCE) is pleased to announce that registration is now open for their annual winter meeting events: Dairy Day and Corn & Soybean Day.

This year, both events will be held in two locations and on two dates. Dairy Day will be held on January 7th and 8th in Hamilton and Ballston Spa, respectively, and Corn & Soybean Day will be held the following week, on January 14th in Hamilton and January 15th in Ballston Spa.

This year’s Central NY Dairy Day will focus on new technologies and High Oleic Soybeans. In the morning session, Cornell researchers and farmers will talk about opportunities to integrate different technologies into dairy farms, from Automated Milking Systems to health-monitoring boluses. After lunch, we will hear about the opportunities of High Oleic Soybeans on dairy diets and the considerations of managing them, and we will also have farmers share their experiences. Dairy Day will be held 10 AM to 3 PM on Tuesday, January 7th at the Appley Center (White Eagle Conference Center), 2.1 miles northeast of the village of Hamilton, NY on Lake Moraine Rd, and on Wednesday, January 8th at the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Saratoga County building, 50 W High St, Ballston Spa, NY. To register, visit bit.ly/dairyday2025.

Corn & Soybean Day will feature updates and management information for the latest corn diseases to strike NY, tar spot and corn stunt, as well as management strategies for herbicide resistant weeds like palmer amaranth, waterhemp, and marestail in soybeans and corn. We’ll also hear Cornell researchers discuss their latest work on insect pest management without neonicotinoids, and on soil nutrient balances in NY farm fields. Finally, we’ll hear from DEC specialists on the effective management of vertebrate nuisance pests like deer, bear, and birds on farms. Corn & Soybean Day will be held 10 AM to 2:15 PM on Tuesday, January 14th at the Appley Center in Hamilton, and on Wednesday, January 15th at the Saratoga County 4-H Training Center (William M. Schwerd Building), 556 Middleline Rd, Ballston Spa, NY.  At least 2.0 NYSDEC pesticide applicator credits can be earned (cat. 1a, 10, 21, or 23), as well as 3.25 Certified Crop Advisor credits (2.75 IPM, 0.5 Soil & Water Management). Those seeking DEC credits must arrive and sign in before 9:45 AM. To register, visit bit.ly/cornsoy2025.

Sign-in, Coffee Hour, and the Trade Show open at 9 AM each day. Lunch is provided.
