Montgomery County Public Health Department Unveils Groundbreaking Website at NYSAC

FONDA, NY –Montgomery County Public Health Director Sara Boerenko, LCSW delivered a critical talk at the New York State Association of Counties (NYSAC) Conference last week on “Breaking the Cycle of Poverty and Public Health” where she unveiled the department’s newly redesigned website, which is poised to revolutionize how residents access public health services and information.

The updated website, found at https://madeofsomethingstronger.com, has been crafted to provide an intuitive, accessible user experience, making it easier than ever for Montgomery County residents to find vital services and information. With bilingual support in both English and Spanish, the site includes educational videos, real-time views into rabies and lead exposure data, and interactive community surveys.

Boerenko emphasizes the importance of bridging the gap in both healthcare and technology access, stating:

“In today’s world, it’s not enough to simply address poverty from a public health perspective. We must also ensure that residents can easily access services and resources through technology that’s designed to be both comprehensive and user-friendly. This new website empowers our community by offering maps, dashboards, and even a health department store experience for those who need supplies but lack transportation.”

The Montgomery County Health Department Store, also introduced with the launch, allows residents without transportation to order essential health supplies at no cost, right from the website. This initiative is one more step toward ensuring that every member of the community, regardless of socioeconomic status or location, can access the health resources they need.

In addition to the store, the site features:

  • Live Calendars for community events
  • Multiple contact methods to reach the department
  • Detailed staff overviews for personalized interaction
