Mohawk Valley Featured Weekend Events in Upstate NY: April 18-20

So many springtime events happening this weekend in Upstate New York’s Mohawk Valley. Thanks to Herkimer, Old Forge, Gloversville, Cooperstown and more, for sharing events with us! Fresh produce can be found this week at the Oneonta Winter Farmers’ Market, and the Cooperstown Farmers’ Market. Don’t forget to get local produce for your favorite recipes at local area farm stores!

Herkimer College Used Book Sale

The final days of the Herkimer College Library’s annual used book sale this weekend through Monday, April 21st. Books will be 25 cents each or 5 for $1.00, cash only. Library hours will be Friday April 11 from 8:00 a.m until 3:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. For questions please email Herkimer Library at library@herkimer.edu.

Spring Break at Studio Arts and Crafts in Cobleskill

The Studio for Arts and Crafts offers both the Glass Fusion Bug or Crittter workshop from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. and a Glass Fusion Jewelry workshop from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Friday April 18, 2025 at the Studio for Arts and crafts located at 576 E. Old Forge Events

Spring Break Lego Challenge

The Old Forge Library, located at 220 Crosby Blvd, is participating in the Great Mid York Lego Library Challenge. This fun, creative event will take place from April 17 to April 19 during library open hours, and everyone is invited to take part. The challenge is simple. Participants of all ages are encouraged to create their own Lego masterpieces inspired by their favorite books or a beloved library space. Build solo, collaborate with a team, or bring a pre-made creation. All entries must be book or library-themed. Join in the fun by  dropping into the Old Forge Library during open hours between April 17 and April 19, and build your own Lego creation inspired by a book or library space. Annual Easter Egg Hunt

The Old Forge Library, located at 220 Crosby Blvd., warmly invites families to join in the fun at their annual traditional Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 19 at 11:00 am. After collecting the eggs, children can return them to receive a special prize. The Easter Egg Hunt will take place outdoors, so families are encouraged to dress for the weather, including sturdy footwear suitable for mud or snow. Prize bags are limited. Calling (315-369-6008) or emailing (oldforge@midyork.org) for registration will reserve a prize, but walk-ins are always welcome.

Spring Story Time

Spring Story Time kicks off and will will be held for five consecutive Fridays from April 18 to May 16, 10:15–11 am, at the Old Forge Library, 220 Crosby Blvd. Designed for children ages 3–6, Story Time is a fun, engaging experience led by a friendly and enthusiastic library staff. During these 45-minute sessions, children will enjoy a variety of activities, including storytelling, creative play, games, crafts, songs, and other interactive activities designed to inspire imagination and creative thinking. Registration in advance is appreciated for planning purposes, though walk-ins will be welcomed whenever possible. To register, please call 315-369-6008 or email oldforge@midyork.org.

Lego Building Contest in Canajoharie

Visit the classroom at the Canajoharie Library located at 2 Erie Blvd, between April 18-19th for an all day, drop-in, LEGO Building contest. All entries will be displayed in the adult fiction section of the Library from April 22– 27th for voting in person and on Facebook. The winner will receive a prize!This is a FREE program. Neighborhood Clean-up Day

The City of Amsterdam Neighborhood Cleanup Day begins at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 19, 2025 at Veterans Park located at Locust Avenue, Amsterdam NY. Volunteers will pick up supplies, fuel up with breakfast, and begin clean up activities at 9:00 a.m. The city has a list of locations that can benefit from spring clean up. At 12;30 p.m. Lunch will be provided and prizes giveaways! Be apart of the change, we can’t WAIT to see you on Saturday, April 19th for the cleanup day in lower Vet’s Parking Lot from 8:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m.!

WingFest

City of Amsterdam hosts Wingfest beginning at 1:00p.m on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at over 20 locations across the city! Participating restaurants will feature an array of chicken wing themed specials throughout the day. Participanting locations will offer one wing samples for $1. VOTE for the BEST Wings in the city and the Hottest Wings in the city! Wings and drink specials, giveaways, & MUCH MORE!!!!

Mohawk Valley Hobby Show

The annual Mohawk Valley Hobby Show takes place beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 19,2025 at the Riverfront Center upper Level located at 1250 Riverfront Center, Amsterdam, NY. For more information call Ray at 518-848-7459.

Broom Making Workshop at the Fenimore Farm in Cooperstown

The Fenimore Farm and Country Village will host a Broom Making Workshop beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 19, 2025. Learn how a broom becomes a broom and more as you transform a wooden handle, twine, and broomcorn—stitching a beautiful and functional handmade cobweb broom. Take your creation home to clean house or give it away as a gift. Register now and enjoy a productive day on the Farm this spring. Broom Making Workshop require advance registration. Cherry Valley Easter Egg Hunt

The 5th Annual Cherry Valley Easter Egg Hunt starts at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 19,2025 beginning at The Telegraph School located at 83 Alden Street, Cherry Valley, NY. Pick up your map at The Telegraph School, 83 Alden St, find all the egg signs around downtown, and come back to collect your prize! There will also be a drawing for some beautiful Easter baskets. The event will be run by the Cherry Valley Cadette Girl Scouts, who will also be running a Girl Scout Cookie Booth. Sponsored by The Telegraph School and The Historic Cherry Valley Businesses.

Farmers’ Markets

Get fresh vegetables, honey and more at the Oneonta Winter Farmers Market from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Saturdays at Foothills located at 24 Market Street, Oneida County Public Market on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m at the Utica Union Station, 321 Main Street, and at the Cooperstown Farmers’ Market on Saturday, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. There is still time to have fun during the “Hardy Locavore” challenge to reward shoppers at its Winter Saturday Markets. By shopping 10 times at the farmers’ market between January 11 and April 26, people will receive a free cotton canvas box tote.
