Mohawk Valley Featured Weekend Events: February 14-16

Stay safe as we’re expecting heavy snow in the Mohawk Valley this weekend. Be sure to check all with event venues just in case the wintry weather results in cancellations. Many thanks to Nelliston, Old Forge, Amsterdam, Schoharie Crossing State Historic Site, Little Falls and Fort Plain for sending us their events! Stock up on fresh produce at the Oneonta Winter Farmers’ Market and Cooperstown Farmers’ Market.  Don’t forget to get local produce at our favorite farm stores!

Eisenadler Brauhaus in Nelliston

Join Eisenadler Brauhaus on Friday February 14th Valentines day!! ALL DAY 3pm-8pm. Come experience a Beer and Chocolate tasting event. For $15 you pick a flight of beer and we will pair the chocolate. Also we will have music with Jan and Jim (5-7). Stop out for a romantic evening with your Valentine!

Old Forge, NY

The Old Forge Library, 220 Crosby Blvd., will have free outer space themed grab bags full of crafts and activities celebrating creativity for kids to work on at home. Kits may be picked up on Friday, February 14 from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. or Saturday, February 15 from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Activities are geared for ages 4-11. Supplies are limited, so registration is recommended.

Certified instructor, Nia Tormey, will instruct up to eight students for a free CPR, First Aid and Certification Class at the Old Forge Library, 220 Crosby Blvd. on Saturday, February 15 from 10 am – 2 pm. CPR, AED & and Basic Life Saving skills, as well as opioid education and a brief Narcan training will be included. The class size is limited to 8 participants, so pre-registration is required. If the class is full, the library staff will put you on a waiting list. An additional session is scheduled for April.

Chili Bowl Luncheon is on Saturday, February 15  |  11am – 3pm. The Chili Bowl Luncheon opens at 10:30 am for the early birds to start looking through the hundreds of hand-made bowls available for purchase.  Sample nearly 20 chilis from area restaurants beginning at 11 am sharp.

Renaissance Pub Valentine’s Day Speed Dating Party with Live Music by Kevin Alexander

This is the place to be on Valentine’s Day! Ready to ditch the dating apps and meet people face to face? Join everyone at the Renaissance Pub for an exciting evening of fun, flirting, and great vibes! All are welcome! (21+) Drink specials, full kitchen menu, and live music for a great night with fun, friends, and maybe a little bit of fate. Live music by Kevin Alexander, an incredibly talented local musician who plays a wide variety of genres, and is always happy to take requests.

Amsterdam WinterFest

WinterFest Sponsored by Alpin Haus on Saturday, February 15th, Veteran’s Park in Amsterdam.

FREE SKATE RENTALS from 12pm-4pm. Enjoy ice skating, music, smores to go and hot chocolate and coffee courtesy of Alpin HausFrom 1pm we will be serving free hot dog and hamburgers. GIVEAWAYS throughout the day.

The Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor offers the annual Canalway Challenge along the historic waterway of New York.

As part of the challenge, the February 15 is an added challenge to get out and experience 15 miles of the trails along the corridor during the month. Tackle 1/3 of that right here as we trek from the Visitor Center to Yankee Hill and back, taking a slightly different route on the return. This is a free program open to the public. Please dress appropriately for the weather conditions and wear proper supportive/warm footwear. This is a loop hike of five miles. Moderate to heavy snowfall, ice, or rain may cancel or postpone this program.

Lyons Family Homestead Farm Walks

Lyons Family Homestead Farm Walks take place daily by appointment at Lyons Family Homestead located at 223 Sanders Road, Fort Plain, NY. Farm Walks take place 7 days a week and are by appointment only. Walks are with our onsite alpacas, llamas, sheep, and goat! Tours last 1 hour and cost $25 per person and $15 per child. Farmers’ Markets

Get fresh eggs, vegetables, honey and more, at farmers’ markets this weekend! Get local produce the Oneonta Winter Farmers’ Market on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and the Cooperstown Farmers’ Market on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Don’t forget to have fun during the “Hardy Locavore” challenge to reward shoppers at its Winter Saturday Markets. By shopping 10 times at the farmers’ market between January 11 and April 26, people will receive a free cotton canvas box tote.
