Mohawk Valley Today’s Connect, Send & Share Program

Mohawk Valley Today started more than seven years ago to connect with folks throughout the region and share what is available in our local communities. We began by visiting locally owned businesses to learn more about what they food, products or services they offer. We quickly discovered that we had so much more to learn from area farms, nonprofit organizations and the many large and small communities in the region. This process of discovery led us to wanting to share all that’s happening in the valley and developed into our “Connect, Send, Share” program. It’s just one of five programs that we have developed and that make up our core mission at Mohawk Valley Today.

The  Connect, Send & Share Program

Image by Mohawk Valley Today This program highlights community topics such as placemaking, culture and publicly supported economic development opportunities in the region’s towns, villages, and cities to positively impact tourism and economic growth. This includes initiatives like Downtown Revitalization Initiatives and NY Forward.

This program highlights and educates residents on community-wide programs, investment and improvements that continue to make life better here in the Mohawk Valley!

Here are some examples of how we have shared these vital community initiatives across the region:

Creative Resiliency in the Mohawk Valley

MVEDD serves the Mohawk Valley Region of New York State in so many important ways and has worked directly with four target communities during this grant period including the Town of Minden, Village of Fort Plain, Village of Palatine Bridge, and Village of Nelliston.

Brownfield Opportunities

A Brownfield Opportunity Area (BOA) Program is operated by the New York State Department of State and provides state planning funds to community-based organizations (CBOs) and municipalities to develop plans for areas with multiple vacant properties or brownfields.

Since March 2023 we’ve provided updates and community information on upcoming and ongoing brownfield opportunities, community information meetings, funding and grants awarded in the regionto address these important projects.

Funding and investment in the Mohawk Valley

We are grateful for the opportunity to share with residents the continuous ongoing work and investment happening to make the Mohawk Valley a great place to live, work and play. These topics have covered NYS Downtown Revitalization Initiatives, NY forward Grants, improvements to infrastructure, and many others.

Sharing Community information

We work with area municipalities and counties to help share important community programs, services and projects, such as what’s contained on our county information pages, town and village pages,  and public-private community partnerships to complete local initiatives.

The Connect, Send, and Share program is just one of the programs we created and use to share information and resources to help all inform residents in the region what is available to them, how to access this information and services, and what’s available within an easy commutable distance.

If you would like more information, or if you would like us add your community or municipality, and share important information about where you live, please reach out to us today!

We will continue to share more about our programs and more about who we are and what we do, and how you can get involved!
